AG Reederei Norden-Frisia electric catamaran
We were awarded first prize in the Norden-Frisia shipping company’s design competition for the exterior paintwork design of the first fully electric catamaran to operate in Germany.
The Frisia E-1 was named in April 2025. The glowing lightning turns into a yellow arrow in the water reflection, pointing hugely and forward-looking. This is how the first cruise on the all-electric ferry felt: fast, quiet, forward-looking and powerful.
The catamaran was built by the Damen shipyard, sails from Norddeich to Norderney in 30 minutes, has a battery capacity of 1800 kWh, two electric motors of 600 kW each, offers space for 150 passengers, is 32.3 metres long, 9.6 metres wide, has a draught of just 1.2 metres and is CO2-neutral thanks to solar power.
