Buddy Beam
This isn’t rocket science! Sustainability begins where you understand things. The Buddy Beam shows that good design doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective. With just a few components, it creates a light that lasts – repairable, understandable, approachable.
The Buddy Beam is not an object to be placed somewhere, but a companion. Its round shape fits comfortably in the hand, making it both robust and portable. It invites you to take it with you, move it around, pass it on – a light that follows you wherever you need it. At the same time, it fits into the surrounding environment as an independent object – with warm light of 2700 Kelvin and 100 lumens.
The housing is 3D-printed from transparent, recycled filament, and second-life battery cells work inside. Everything is visible: cables, switches, electronics – the transparency reflects a transparent attitude.
Because Studio Raumschiff believes that design should be shared, the Buddy Beam is openly accessible: it can be purchased as a finished designer lamp, built yourself according to open-source plans, or experienced in workshops – print, solder, assemble, and in the end, your own creation will shine.
The Buddy Beam is not a design object in the classic sense, but a statement for openness, circular thinking, and the joy of DIY. A luminous companion for campers, design aficionados, DIYers, children, readers, and table lamp lovers.
